WCCUSD Police in Schools
Unsafe. Threatened. Targeted. These are the feelings we have each and every day we walk through the hallways with police in our schools. Police in schools need to learn how to build positive relationships that don’t make students feel like criminals.
West Contra Costa Unified School District spends almost $2.5 million on police in schools every year -- without any district-led training.
Students have had enough. We demand WCCUSD require all police in schools to be regularly trained on restorative justice, de-escalation tactics and conflict resolution by the start of the ‘19-’20 academic year.
