Higher Expectations, Higher Outcomes

Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) raise the standards required for students to graduate, in order to ensure that students are better equipped for post-secondary success.

Most colleges in the UNC system require a 2.5 gpa for admission, yet there is no gpa requirement to graduate from CMS.

Programs like credit recovery are being abused to boost graduation numbers for the state and district, yet, they are doing a disservice to students.

We Are Asking For:

  • Uniformity - One uniform system of credit recovery.
  • Transparency - Informed parental consent for students enrolling in credit recovery.
  • Accountability - Require a minimum 2.0 GPA or CTE certification.
