First Generation College Student Poll
Students who are the first in their family to go to college are the product of generations of hard working families and communities who have sacrificed much to seek better opportunities for their kids. There's a lot of pride, joy, and responsibility in being a first-generation college student who doesn't just beat the odds but redefines what success looks like for themselves and their community.
Many of us at SFER are the first in our families to attend college, so we recognize the serious barriers many students overcome in high school just to get to college—only to be faced with even more challenges after graduation. Challenges that our k-12 schools did not prepare us to tackle. So we conducted a first-of-its-kind national poll of first generation college students to bring our unique voices into the education policy debate.
