Denver Public Schools Need A Mental Health Counselor

We demand that the Denver Public Schools Board of Education hire a full-time mental health counselor in every school, and that those counselors are predominately people of color, in order to be reflective of the students they will serve.

We demand that the Denver Public Schools Board of Education hire a full-time mental health counselor in every school, and that those counselors are predominately people of color, in order to be reflective of the students they will serve. Recently we delivered a testimony to the Denver Public School Board of Education to share student stories and demonstrate why mental health is a schools issue.

  • Pass and fund a school board resolution mandating that all Denver Public Schools hire at least one full-time mental health counselor.
  • Train all school-based and district staff in trauma-informed practices annually.
  • Hire counselors that are reflective in identity of the students they will work with.
